Lead vocals and keyboard
When growing up, she received extensive public and private vocal and piano instruction, and has given solo vocal performances since that time in bands, plays, and church events, and has played rhythm guitar since the age of 10.
After meeting her husband Jim, she performed background vocal harmonies with him in their band The Investments. Lori has worked and recorded with other musicians at a local college as well as other privately owned studios. While at college, she minored in musicianship and received an AA in Recording Arts. With this training, she works closely with Jim and Ken on integrating their harmonies, as well as adding an additional keyboard or guitar part to a song to fill out the sound.
Percussion and backing vocals
Jim’s love of drumming began at age 6, and has been influenced by fusion bands such as Dream Theatre and Rush and metal bands such as Deep Purple and Judas Priest.
From the late 1970s thru 1990 he played for Saint and Valor which were successful Christian Rock bands. Later he was the drummer for The Investments with his wife Lori. During this time, he also assisted in various recording projects.
As the foundation of the MPG rhythm section, Jim brings his influences to the surface, while providing harmonies with Ken to support Lori’s vocals.
Guitar and backing vocals
Lead guitarist Duane Flock joined MPG in 2011 because of the love of artistry in composing originals and playing progressive rock! Influenced by musicians like Steve Morse, Robin Trower, Rippingtons, Al DiMeola, Jeff Beck, Steely Dan, and Yes, Duane's love of music began at an early age in a music-oriented family of several generations.
An old school rocker guitarist, Duane has also played in the bands Diversion and Sonic Edge, and has produced two of his own CDs, "Flock of Tunes" and "I'm Looking at You".
Bass guitar, keyboards, and backing vocals
With a love of music that started at age 7, Ken began playing the bass in high school. Influenced by bands like Kansas, Genesis, Rush, and King Crimson, he developed an interest in songwriting and recording music. In the mid 90's Ken played with the Bay Area bands Blind Nurse and Cradle.
In 2001, Ken met Jim and Lori Maxwell, who shared similar influences and interests, and started Maxwell Peterson Group (MPG).
